Queen Mary Falls ride 31/12/11

Steve's ride to Queen Mary Falls on 29/12 sounded like a good idea so we gave it a go on the 31/12/11. I've been wanting to do this one for years and for what ever reason never headed that way. Top ride. The road up to and across the top was wet, covered in cloud and the air temp was a lot lower than the bottom (i.e. damn cold!). The loop was Oxenford - Boonah - Q M Falls - Killarney - Legume - Woodenbong - Beauy and home. 350 km's and an easy going 8 hrs. The road from the border to Legume to Woodenbong is crap though. The signs along the way say that the forests are in good hands but the road will give your kidneys and spine a flogging and will do its best to destroy what ever you riding. Go over your bike before and after the ride making sure everything is tight! It's rough. The FJ was great though. Just stand on the pegs and let the thing bounce around underneath. As hard as the NSW Dept. Main Roads try, nothing will knock it offline. I'll try the Killarney to Emu Vale to Cunningham H/Way loop next time. I've heard its good.

  • Yeah great! Cold wet and rough! Couldn't walk from standing on the pegs for an hour!! Oh yeah, bits did fall off the bike. Seriously though, it was a great ride and the bacon and egg, sandwich at Woodenbong was sensational.
